STRATEGIC GOALS
Enforcement & Ethical Practice:
- Monitor and report the scope of practice within the dental professions to ensure safe and ethical practice
- Ensure that dental assistants are current with new and evolving infection control standards.
- Support the CDSS Practice Inspection initiative to monotor standards and protocols.
- Foster postive attitudes, professionalism and mutual respect within the workplace.
- Provide members of SDAA access to expanded workplace opportunities specifically to provide oral care in long term care facilities.
- Monitor labour market supply of dental assistants and initiate recruitment activities.
Education:
- Uphold national educational and regulatory standards including CDAC accreditation, NDAEB examinations and standardized curicullum.
- Provide all dental assistants in Saskatchewan access to educational programs that foster personal and professional growth.
- Educate employers relative to the individual skill set, salary expectations, benefits and current licensure status of Saskatchewan dental assistants.
- Assist dental assistants to develop interpersonal and negotiation skills through assertiveness training.
- Educate the public about the role and scope of the dental assisting profession.
Effective Administration:
- SDAA is financially viable.
- SDAA continues to be fiscally accountable.
- SDAA manages through policy governance development.
- SDAA assess council for demographic balance and work towards appropriate succession planning.
